Selinunte (in Greek, Selinos, in Latin Selinus) was an ancient Greek city on the south-west coast of Sicily. The archaeological site is composed of five temples built around an acropolis. Of the five temples, only Temple E (the so-called Era Temple) has been rebuilt. The city ruins can be found in the archaeological park which is, today, considered to be the largest and most impressive in Europe: it extends for 1740km2 and includes numerous temples, shrines and altars.
